the City of Joensuu was rewarded at the "Kuntatyö2030" gala in Helsinki on December 7th, for a good practice "Digital Youth Card helped to keep Youth spaces open in Joensuu [during the COVID]".

City of Joensuu Youth services, the coordinator of the YOUTH CARD project, was rewarded for development and innovative utilisation of Youth Card during the COVID-19 epidemic.

Joensuu was able to keep Youth spaces open even during COVID restrictions. A significant contributor to this has been the use of the digital Youth Card, which the young people log their visits when entering these spaces.

The Youth card is designed to help Youth workers in collecting statistical information about the number of visits to the youth spaces and activities and assist in their reporting. In Joensuu, all youth spending time at the youth spaces are required to register and give their contact information - including guardian contact information.

- In the case of a possible COVID exposure, we would immediately have available the contact information of the youth and their guardians, who have been sharing the space, says Jukka-Pekka Mattila from the Youth services.
