Youth Card app privacy policy

This page explains how information is used in the Youth Card app. The data controller is Innoventum Oy, represented by Janne Leinonen, at Juhonkuja 7, 80260 Joensuu, Finland. For privacy questions, contact info@youthcard.eu.

Information used by the app

When you create and use an account, the service uses the details you provide for that account, such as your name and contact details. It uses your account information to display your card, let you sign in, and provide the activities and benefits available to you. If you provide your age or gender, these details may be used in activity-visit statistics. The service also records information about your registrations and visits to activities so that those features work.

Basis, sharing and storage

We use your consent to process account, registration and visit data for the app features described above. Innoventum Oy hosts the service. When you choose to register for or visit an activity, information needed by the participating municipality to organise and record that activity is shared with it based on your consent. Each municipality is responsible for the account data it handles and may provide further information about its processing. Active-account data is not transferred internationally.

Account data is removed after a full year of inactivity. The remaining statistical visit records described below have no fixed expiry.

If you choose to add a profile picture, attachments to a form, or feedback, the app uses the content you provide for those features. The app can use your location to show distances to activities and when recording a visit if you grant location access. It can use your camera to scan QR codes or take a picture when you choose those features.

Account deletion and retained statistics

You can permanently delete your account through My Card → Account Deletion in the app, or request deletion by email. See Delete your Youth Card account for the steps.

Deletion removes your account and all information that identifies you. Statistical records of activity visits remain and may include age and gender if you provided them. Those records are no longer linked to your account or other identifying account information. There is no fixed expiry for these remaining statistical records. You cannot currently delete individual account data while keeping your account.

Questions and requests

You can withdraw your consent and ask to access, correct or erase your data by contacting info@youthcard.eu. Withdrawing consent does not change the lawfulness of processing already carried out. You can also request account deletion without using the app. If you have a concern about the processing of your personal data, you can contact the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman. Do not send your password by email.
